Before our fashion showroom opened, local customers knew Thread & Trend for professional alterations. They valued our careful craftsmanship, attention to detail and personal service.

Today, that experience continues through Thread & Trend Fashion. Our private Bulleen showroom offers an elegant collection of occasion dresses. Customers can also have their chosen dress professionally fitted by our trusted alterations team.

Expanding into fashion was a natural step for us. Years of working with garments taught us an important lesson. Finding a beautiful dress is only one part of the experience.

Thread & Trend Fashion was created to bring all these elements together in one place.

A Reputation Built Through Alterations

Our alterations and dressmaking shop at Bulleen Plaza became known through the everyday work of helping customers feel confident in their clothing.

Some garments needed a simple hem or sleeve adjustment. Others required reshaping, detailed repairs, dress alterations or more complex tailoring. Every job called for the same care: understanding the garment, listening to the customer and making changes that respected both the original design and the person wearing it.

That relationship with our customers shaped the business.

The reputation of Thread & Trend grew through consistent work rather than a single campaign. It was built garment by garment and fitting by fitting.

Why Fashion Was the Next Step

Our alterations work also gave us a close view of the difficulties customers can face when shopping for occasion wear.

We wanted to offer a calmer and more personal alternative.

In 2026, we opened Thread & Trend Fashion within Bulleen Plaza, building on the service and fitting knowledge already established through our alterations business.

The showroom allows us to help customers earlier in their journey; beginning with the choice of dress, rather than only the final adjustment.

Located on Level 2LG at Bulleen Plaza, Thread & Trend Fashion offers a handpicked collection of occasion dresses from European and American brands.

The collection is designed for women attending weddings, formal celebrations, black-tie occasions, Spring Racing events and other special occasions.

Our aim is not to overwhelm customers with endless rails of similar garments. We select dresses with careful attention to cut, colour, fabric and detail, creating a varied collection that still feels considered.

Customers can explore elegant evening dresses, feminine prints, contemporary silhouettes and styles suited to different ages, tastes and occasions.

A Private and Unhurried Way to Shop

Thread & Trend Fashion operates primarily through private appointments.

This gives each customer the time and space to browse, try different silhouettes and consider her options without the pressure of a crowded shop floor. Personal guidance is available when wanted, but the experience remains relaxed and led by the customer.

A private appointment can be particularly helpful when shopping for an important occasion. The type of event, venue, season, preferred coverage, comfort and personal style can all influence the right choice.

Trying dresses in a calm setting makes it easier to see how a style moves, how the fabric sits and, most importantly, whether the dress feels right.

The showroom is also available to customers who discover us while visiting the alterations shop. Existing Thread & Trend customers can visit Level 2LG and explore the fashion collection, while new fashion customers gain access to the fitting experience that established our local reputation.

The connection between fashion and alterations is one of the defining advantages of Thread & Trend.

Because our team understands garment construction, we can look beyond the first impression of a dress. We consider how it may be adjusted for the customer.

A hem can be balanced for the chosen shoes. Straps, sleeves or the waist may be refined where appropriate. The final fit can be considered as part of the purchase instead of becoming a separate concern afterwards.

Complimentary standard alterations are available with eligible dress purchases, subject to terms and conditions.

Where more complex work is requested, our team can explain what may be possible. We do discuss the requirements before the alteration begins. This creates a clearer and more comfortable path from selecting a dress to wearing it with confidence.

Thread & Trend now welcomes customers through two connected spaces at Bulleen Plaza.

Our alterations and dressmaking shop on Level 1 continues to provide professional alterations, repairs, fittings and tailoring services.

Thread & Trend Fashion on Level 2LG offers our occasion-wear collection and private showroom appointments.

Although the activities are different, our approach remains the same. We take time to understand what each customer needs. We offer practical and honest guidance, and pay attention to the details that determine how a garment looks and feels.

The fashion showroom represents a new chapter for Thread & Trend, but it grows directly from the experience, craftsmanship and trust established through our alterations work.

Remaining at Bulleen Plaza was an important part of our expansion.

It allowed the fashion showroom to grow close to the customers who already knew Thread & Trend, while giving new visitors an accessible local destination for occasion dresses in Melbourne’s north-east.

Our Monthly Dress Giveaway, running throughout 2026 for eligible Melbourne residents, is one way we are introducing the showroom to the wider community.
